My favorite baseball card when I was a little kid was a 1987 Topps base card of Kent Hrbek of the Minnesota Twins. Why? I think it was one of the first baseball cards I ever got and the photo had a player in action. I don't know, lil me just thought it was super cool. Before Beckett informed us that baseball cards held value (I became a Frank Thomas and Cal Ripken Jr. collecting fan at that point) I played with my cards just like any other toys. I would make teams with my cards and line them up in a batting order on the floor and then use stuffed animals as bats and balls to have the players on the cards face off against each other. My Kent Hrbek card got lots of creases in it and was quite dog-eared. I found a new copy of the card, a fresh talisman strong with childhood superpowers, encased, serial numbered, autographed by Kent Herbek, all officially certified by Topps as a part of one their 2022 Archives Signature Series sets. Woo hoo!
